Baccalaureate
Markisha had Baccalaureate the Sunday before graduation - May 24, 2008. Webster's defines baccalaureate as a sermon delivered to a graduating class. Over the years as prayer has been removed from so many things, baccalaureate has gone from allowing one prayer and a few gospel songs (PV Class of 1992) to a speaker and no prayer and no gospel songs (PV Class of 2008). But the principal did mention that there should have been a prayer. God bless us all!!! The ceremony was long and slow, but we made it through and of course Rodney took a whole bunch of pictures.
Below is now one of my favorite shots of Markisha. That cap and gown represents so many things for me. This is outside of the auditorium waiting to march in. We barely made it on time, but they ran a little late anyway. So it worked out.
Markisha and some of her friends waiting to march into the auditorium. I only know two of them; hope they stay connected. Oh, to be young again - whatever!
Dr. Linda Brown, Principal of Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School which has recently been voted one of the best in the State of Arkansas. Ask my mother about that one!
Dr. Dexter Booth, Vice Principal - Always dressed for the occasion. I love the blue jacket. He is the one who kept Markisha out of trouble or shielded her from us. I had one of those too - RIP Mr. Mathis - Horace Mann 88-89. Thanks to Dr. Booth for taking such special care with Kisha.
There was no prayer, but the choir performed several numbers. They work Ms. Foreman (our dear family friend) so hard.
Me and the kids wait patiently as the go through the ceremony. Max was hype. Maddy slept through most of it. I've got to lose some weight. Or Rodney's got to work on his camera angles.
It's over - they march out!

The Mothers - I am doing good to be there. Broken toe and two babies! Daddy was there he took all of the pictures, but mothers are the best anyway!
